Baptism

January 8, 2023 10:00 am

At morning worship this Sunday, we will celebrate the sacrament of baptism.

In our branch of the Christian family, we baptize believers and their children.

Infant baptism is a beautiful opportunity for us to remember that the main actor in baptism is our gracious God, who loves us unfailingly, calls us by name, and makes promises to us before we are even able to respond. We celebrate this in community.

We’ll make promises, too, to faithfully support this little person and her parents.

Every baptism is also a chance for any believer to pause and to remember their own baptism.

Whether you are a follower of Jesus or not, baptized or not, you are welcome to attend…a-a-a-a-a-and to stay for cake. (We love cake.)

The board book, pictured above, is called At Your Baptism. It was co-authored by Carrie Steenwyk and John D. Witvliet, and richly illustrated by Linda Saport.
